Due to the expected weather Chandler has canceled the MS track meet on Saturday, April 19th.

There will be no school on Friday, April 18th.

A group of Stroud High School history students had the opportunity to hear from Senator James Lankford today. He shared his personal journey to Congress and spoke about the importance of balancing family and career life along with how government works.
Students asked questions about policies and government processes that impacted their lives. He also took time to encourage students to set goals, stay focused on their education, be respectful, and to remember that they have a voice. Thank you for visiting and inspiring the next generation of leaders!

*SENIOR SLIDE SHOW*
It is time to gather pictures for the SENIOR SLIDE SHOW. The yearbook staff will be preparing this annual tradition and we need your help. We are asking for a kindergarten and an 8th grade picture. It can be the graduation picture or just the posed school day picture. (If your child was in the Stroud yearbook their 8th grade year or Kindergarten year, I have those pictures. If you aren't sure, email us and we will let you know.) We would also like any group pictures of growing up that you would like to share. Sports teams, birthday parties, field trips, playing together. The Senior Slide Show will be played during the final Senior Walk on the last day of school as well as the lobby of the Coliseum during Graduation.
Please get these to us no later than April 18, 2025. They can be submitted by e-mail to
shsyearbook@stroud.k12.ok.us. Please choose the actual size if given the option. Or send them to school to Ms. Benton and the yearbook staff. Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope for them to be returned. Or they can be returned to your student. Thank you.

Parkview Elementary hosted their annual carnival today! The fourth and fifth grade students had the opportunity to design and run their very own booths—everything from games and crafts to fun challenges and sweet treats. The second grade students hosted their famous cake-walk! It was amazing to see their imaginations come to life and their leadership skills on full display. A huge thank you to our NHS student volunteers, who kindly guided our Pre-K students from booth to booth, making sure their first carnival experience was extra special.

Mrs. Martinez's talented Applied Communications Theater Class performed "The Cliffnotes of Insanity : The Princess Bride in 30 minutes or Less" and "Frankenstein Slept Here" for the community last month! Cliffnotes of Insanity is a hilarious twist on The Princess Bride—a high-energy, comedic journey that reimagined the classic fairy tale in the most unexpected way. In Frankenstein Slept Here, chaos reigned as the beloved monsters must join forces to save Frankenstein's castle from a catastrophic fate! Mrs. Martinez's Applied Communications Theater Class gives students the opportunity to build key skills in public speaking, teamwork & collaboration, creativity as well as building confidence utilizing all aspects of communication!

In a hands-on lesson in Mrs. Chace's Zoology Class, students embarked on an exciting deep dive into the world of fish anatomy! They dissected various types of fish from the 3 major fish groups of the Class Osteichthyes - jawless fish (lampreys), cartilaginous fish (sharks, skates, & rays), and bony fish (menhaden, perch, sea robin). Students studied the anatomy of the specimens and distinguished characteristics of each type of fish. Students opened the stomachs of the fish to see what the fish ate. They discovered that one shark had just eaten a squid, and a sea robin had just eaten shrimp! Students noted differences including organ size and shape, mouth structures, and gills. Students were able to apply the morphology of the fish anatomy learned in class, with their specific type of fish dissection. It was an adventure in discovery where the world beneath the waves was brought into vivid focus!
